My husband and I are looking into adopting a little girl from China who has a repaired unilateral, partial cleft lip. My question is, she also has what is described as "a split right dental bed"---what exactly does this involve? Her palate is apparently intact and she is doing great in foster care. Would she need both surgery and orthodic work? Any info is appreciated. Check Out the Answer

my 3 yr. old daughter has a possible cleft palate. her pediatrician says she has all the symptoms except the actual cleft. he says there is just a bump where her palate joined, and it looks like it wasn't supposed to meet. he wants to send her to a specialist but i'm just wondering if that is really necessary. is surgery a must if you cant actually see an outward cleft without thorough exam? thank you for your time. My son just had surgery on his cleft palate, and I am having a hard time feeding him. It seems as if everything I give him comes up through his nose, and because of this he rejects the bottle or any food I offer him. Is this considered to be normal? It seems as if his condition is worse than it was before. Check Out the Answer
