Question Category : Rectal Prolapse
Dear doctor, My son is 17 months old & is suffering from prolapse of rectum . THis problem actually strated from diarreha somewhere in july . So we took him to a pediatrican to treat his dirreaha and told him regarding potruding of rectum while passing stool . At that moments doctor advised us to change the diet wiht full of vegetable & fruits and further told us to observe the baby. As the problem continued so we took him again after a month to the doctor that time he gave some d-worming medicnes Zyrtex, stating that it may be due to worms which sometime loosen the muscles of anus. doses where given as recommmended by the doctor . Only after the second dose & also the change in diet helped to resolve the problem . but i didnt see any type of worms in the stool. But Later after two moths , my son suffered from diarreah once again ,which lead to the prolaspe of rectum This time the doctor told us that we will observe for 3 to 6 months.as The times passes the things got resolved .But yesterday after a very long time i noticed the rectum potruding out from anus. I would like to know whether this problem is very serious , needed a surgery or can be solved as the child grows . My son strains while passing stool even when his stool is soft . How can i get rid of this straining , even the diet is given to him as recommended by the doctor.
